At about six months old, my parents noticed something was off with my skin. By the age of three, it just got worse. After many doctor visits, I was diagnosed with severe atopic dermatitis and hospitalized at Johns Hopkins for weeks. Throughout my childhood, my skin’s discoloration made me a target for relentless bullying, but I refused to let it break me.
I found my confidence, my voice, and my power.
As an adult, I faced another battle, one that wasn’t visible on the outside. Years of emotional and verbal abuse that shattered my self-worth. Anxiety and depression took hold, but after deep reflection and prayer, I chose me. I walked away, reclaimed my strength, and turned my pain into purpose.
